Success of a tooth auto-transplant despite delayed endodontic treatment due to COVID-19 pandemic lock-down: a case report

Auto-transplantation has been suggested to be a favourable treatment option in comparison prosthodonticreplacements. Studies have shown an average survival rate of 89.1% for auto-transplanted teeth. This articleaims report successful third molar auto-transplantation, despite delayed endodontic because ofmovement control order (MCO) imposition following COVID-19 out-break Malaysia. A 22-year-old femalepatient’s impacted lower left (38) was used as donor replace her second (37),which deemed non-restorable due caries and root resorption result impinging pressure from theimpacted adjacent molar. Successful outcome uneventful healing were achieved over period oneyear, auto-transplantation. auto-transplant canbe post-transplantation, if the procedure is performed goodaseptic environment bacterial load controlled at site.KEYWORDSCovid-19; Dental pulp; Endodontics; Lockdown; Root canal therapy; Third molars.
